What's your bag, baby?

I LOVE the articles in magazines and on the web about what celebrity's and other people carry inside their purses. I don't know why, maybe its a fetish. But it's always interesting to see what other people see as essential to carry with them everywhere.

Lately, I've been carrying smaller bags like this Longchamp bag, and a chevron crossbody from Big Buddha seen here, so my bag doesn't have nearly as much stuff in it as usual, just for lack of space.
I got this bag 'free' off of refashioner. I like it mainly because I can throw it in the wash, and not have to worry about it.
Always have to have make up! and sunnies. I got these from the BR outlet because I forgot mine one day, and they are a great pair to just throw in a bag because they were $4.
Laura Mercier stick foundation, Sephora eyeliner, Maybelline falsies, YES to carrots chap stick, Sugar Rose  tinted lip butter, Collin moisturizer, Bath & Body sanitatizer, bumble & bumble hair bands (these are seriously the BEST and last forever).
Wallet ($40 from the outlet!), Extra dessert gum (amazing, and great if you're on WW), random watch from Target for $4, phone, yes to cucumbers facial wipes
Fossil mirror, Fossil pill box, both from the outlet and $5 each.
I always have a million receipts in my bag too. Even if I throw them out weekly, they always pile up, or I think I'll need it, so I'll keep saving it (hoarder tendencies).
What's in your bag? What can you not leave the house without?

Black Halo deals!

I went to Woodbury Commons on a mission, to find the perfect dress for graduation! I wanted something classy, but still trendy. Naturally, I gravitated towards Black Halo. I found not one, but three! and for less than the retail/original price of one.

(I'm wearing the middle for grad!)
(factory images via Black Halo)

Black Halo Off Shoulder Jackie O mini, available here for $375

Black Halo Leo Sheath, available here for $330

Black Halo Desiree Chain Fringe Halter dress, originally $415, available here for $141.

For all three I paid less than $250! Less than the cost of one!
I got the first two in Saks off 5th Ave- on sale, an additional 20% off, and a coupon for $20 off of $100 and it came to $178, and the last in Neiman Marcus Last Call on sale, and an additional 30% off for $68.
Mission accomplished!

Spring cleaning?! & a look inside our place

It must be something in the air (other than allergies), because I cleaned like a crazy person today. I dusted, steam cleaned, swiffered, and scrubbed. I figured I would snap a few shots of our place while it was fairly neat.
Missoni for Target duvet set. Mirrors and framed art Marshall's Homegoods

Kitchen/living room edge

Living room corner
Missoni for Target framed tiles (clearance!!!)
Framed picture of our boys courtesy of the boyfriend

Canvas art Marshall's Homegoods $2.50 each
White dachshund statue- rescued and put back together by my lovely Boshi! and painted with enamel spray paint
Squirrel- thrifted
White horse head- Target clearance $7

It's perfect size for us and our two dachshunds.
One day, I hope I can get my crazy walk in closet, all hardwood, and a huge bathroom with whrilpool tub, but this is more than I enough for right now (especially in terms of cleaning, phew).
Note to self: make enough money to hire a cleaning woman.

LINKS of the week

Here's some links that caught my eye this week!

Epbot brings us this eco friendly jewelry organizer made out of bottles!

Modern Rococo showed us how to jazz up, yes I used the word jazz, some furniture!

Nannygoat used a template to create this beautiful wall art! I LOVE this!

Oh So Pretty found a better way to get instant beach waves with a flat iron!
(I too tried the braid method and was left with a crimpy mess, so glad they shared this method!)

Have a great weekend! I'm heading to the Woodbury Commons Outlets on Sunday, hopefully I'll come back with some great finds to share!

Amazing deals at BR outlet!

I just had to share the ridiculous deals I got at the Banana Republic Outlet in Lake George, NY.
I walked in needing some dress pants short notice. This may not seem like a big deal, but being 5'1, it's pretty hard to find pants that aren't 10 inches too long. I walked to the sale rack, and saw some for $40, eh. Not bad.   But not fantastic. BUT my mom then found a rack neatly tucked into the petite section of pants and blazers for $4.97!, yes, four dollars...The pants ended up ringing in at a lower $2.97. I don't think I could find that price at a thrift store. I was stoked, not only were they dirt cheap, but they actually fit! I have been having trouble working younger, trend pieces into 'work appropriate' outfits, but that's another post. I want to look professional, but I want to look feminine, young, and like me.. not a girl playing dress up that has no personality.. or gender. Hopefully I'll soon have a reason to experiment and delve deeper into the world of 'business causal'!

April Birchbox!

So months ago my boyfriend told me about Birchbox, the company that sends you samples from 4-5 beauty products once a month for $10. At first I thought, why would I pay for samples? But then I thought about how many times I bought a product and then hated it, wasting money, or how far away any decent make up store was, and saw how large the samples actually were...I tried signing up and after weeks of being on a wait list got in.
It was like Christmas!
It contained
Color Club Neon Nail Polish (in 'He loves me')

I wasn't crazy about the BeFine products. The samples of the exfoliator didn't have a ton in it and was a little rough for my skin (you fill out your profile on skin, hair, etc), it did smell great though. The BeFine moisturizer had TOO much in it, and made me look very greasy.
Viva La Juicy is a scent I own and love, so it will go into my travel bag for my next trip.
The Showstoppers fashion tape I see as a waste, I have tried them in the past, with no luck. I guess I'll keep them around in case...
The Color Club polish I loved, its the perfect shade of pink. I own a few colors by them and was happy with it.
June Jacob's polish was fine.. again, a little rough for my skin--and I put in my profile I had sensitive skin.  My face felt great afterwards though. Smelled good, but I'm not really a pumpkin fan.

Wanna try out Birchbox? Click here! I get 10 points for referring you, and for every 100 points earned, you get $10 credit towards a product. You can also earn points by reviewing the products and every $1 you spend.

*Please note that I purchased Birchbox on my own accord, and these opinions are my own!

Back from the Outer Banks!

I had a lovely, relaxing week off from life in the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Home for the week
We were right on the beach!
Enjoyed plenty of sun & sand.
Living room view
There were about 10 puzzles in the rental, which we completed all of them haha
Room set up, stayed like this for about 5 minutes...
Enjoyed sunset at the Dunes
Indulged in some great food & drinks (maybe a little too much on both accounts).
It was so nice not to have any appointments to worry about, I even had a break from grad work.
Good time with some good company!

DIY- painted mint boat shoes

I have been hunting for mint boat shoes for awhile now, but only been able to find a pair for $90, which I'm not willing to spend that.
I decided to give my tired metallic copy cats from Payless a facelift with some acrylic paint...
They turned out pretty good! I sealed the paint with modge podge, I have worn them twice with little sign of wear on the paint job. Hopefully they will stay in decent shape!
Sometimes it pays to be a bit of a hoarder :x
